Jesus’ work in the Gospel of the Day (Matthew 14:13-21) teaches us that when something is shared with others, nothing is wasted. But hoarding and extravagance are two sides of one evil: greed. Therefore, faced with the extravagances that smell of corruption and decline, we meet people with outstretched hands who have no food to eat; people with burned homes who have no peace.
