🔶 Istanbul meeting on the Strait of Hormuz postponed

According to the German news agency, the scheduled meeting on possible solutions to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz, which was set to be held in Istanbul on the initiative of Germany and Turkey, has been postponed.

German government sources in Berlin cited the reason for the postponement as a “timing problem of one of the participants.” A new date for the meeting has not yet been set.

Johan Wedevoel, Germany’s foreign minister, was due on Sunday, August 30 (September 8) to meet in Istanbul with the foreign ministers of Turkey, France, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Egypt.

The focus of the talks was stated to be regional security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

About six months after the start of the war in Iran, efforts to resolve the crisis have still reached a dead end.
