U.S. security officials secretly transferred Trump to a military plane in a ground service truck, while Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, other senior aides, and reporters remained on the Air Force aircraft as part of a decoy.

In the end, no missile was launched, and the credibility of the threat remains unclear.
