Israel’s army said that in Sunday’s attack on southern Gaza, it targeted one of Hamas’s commanders who had infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7, 2023 attack.

Based on the army’s statement, the strike in Khan Yunis targeted a company commander in Hamas’s elite force. His name was not released, and his status is unknown.

Palestinian media reported that the attack wounded several people.

The Israeli army added that, in addition to taking part in the October 7 attack, the individual had been carrying out attacks against Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.

In the army’s statement, it said: “The activities of this terrorist were creating an immediate threat to our forces.”
