Ismail Hosseini, a member of the Parliament’s Energy Commission, said that damage to some oil facilities during the war and a partial reduction in production capacity will make managing the gas shortage in the coming winter more difficult.

Hosseini said that “the main concern of the country in the coming months is the peak consumption of gas in the winter season,” and that a gas shortage could also affect the supply of fuel to power plants and, as a result, the stability of the electricity grid.

He added that most of the country’s electricity is generated in thermal power plants and that gas is the main fuel of many of these plants. According to Hosseini, if the gas required by the power plants is not provided, it will be necessary to use liquid fuels, including diesel fuel and fuel oil.
