🔸Iraqi Prime Minister, one day after the end of the U.S.-led military coalition’s mission in this country, announced the final deadline of the end of June 2027 for handing over the weapons of armed groups to the government. The Iraqi government had previously targeted the end of September of this year—8 Mehr—for this process.

🔸In a statement released on Thursday, 9 Mehr, Ali Al-Zayadi said: “October 1 marks the serious start of dealing with the issue of weapons beyond government control,” adding that this process will continue, at most, until June 30, 2027, based on a clear roadmap and a timeline agreed upon.

🔸He emphasized that decisions about war and peace must rest exclusively with the Iraqi government’s legal institutions, and that no group outside the official framework should act independently in this regard.

🔸The Iraqi prime minister also announced that the government will take steps toward the complete disarmament of non-Iraqi armed groups present on this country’s soil, and will not allow Iraq’s soil or airspace to be used to attack other countries.

🔸At the same time, Al-Zayadi stressed that the government intends to entrench the position of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) within Iraq’s official security structure.
