🔸 The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office announced on Friday, the 10th of Mehr, that Iranian airline companies, except Mahan Air, are allowed to operate 40 flights per day to and from Najaf International Airport.

🔸 Flights by Iran Air’s airlines to Iraq were suspended starting from the 3rd of Mehr, following the imposition of U.S. secondary sanctions as part of “economic expulsion operations.”

🔸 The Iraqi Ministry of Transport had announced on Tuesday, the 7th of Mehr, that the country’s airlines were “preparing” to resume flights to Iran from October. However, the United States has set strict conditions for the resumption of these flights.

🔸 According to the statement from the ministry, Iraq has managed to obtain a special exemption from the U.S. Treasury Department, under which Iraq’s airlines are permitted to carry out flights to Iran.

🔸 In its statement today, the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office welcomed the “positive response from the U.S. government” and said the new exemption “will facilitate the travel of pilgrims and passengers, especially those who travel for medical treatment, visiting religious sites, and tourism.”
