🔸The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, the appointment of Grikor der Hagopian as the new ambassador of Baghdad in Washington.

🔸On Wednesday, he presented his credentials to Donald Trump, the President of the United States, at the White House, thereby officially beginning his term as ambassador in Washington.

🔸The Iraqi Armenian-born diplomat, while expressing satisfaction at taking up his country’s representation in the United States, announced that pursuing the results of Ali Al-Zaydi’s recent visit to the United States and efforts to start a new chapter in Baghdad–Washington bilateral relations are his priorities.

🔸Ali Al-Zaydi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, met with Washington two months ago. During this visit, the leaders of the two countries signed a set of agreements and memorandums of understanding in the fields of economic, investment, energy, and security cooperation.

🔸Hagopian, who is considered the first Armenian-born ambassador of Iraq in the United States, replaced Nizar Al-Khairallah, who has been present in Washington for about three years.
