Iraq’s Finance Minister, in a meeting with Steven Fagen, the chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, called for accelerating Iraq’s oil and gas projects.

Faleh Sarri emphasized that speeding up the growth of projects by American companies in Iraq would help develop the country’s vital sectors.

Mr. Fagen also described the signing of oil contracts during the prime minister of Iraq’s trip to the United States in July as a “highly successful achievement,” and stated that American companies are ready to apply their technology and expertise for the benefit of the people of the United States and Iraq.

However, he said that realizing this capacity requires adherence to contractual commitments and the creation of a secure environment in which U.S. investment can grow.

During the prime minister of Iraq, Ali Al-Zaydi’s, trip to Washington in July, American companies signed more than $60 billion in contracts and memoranda of understanding in the fields of oil, gas, and energy transmission pipelines with this country.
