The Iranian Press Photographers’ Guild, by publishing a statement, called for clarification of the situation of Majid Saeedi, a news photographer and a member of this guild, and announced that more than 14 days after his arrest at his home, his family, close associates, and colleagues still have no information about his condition.

According to ISNA, the guild said that from the first hours after learning of Saeedi’s arrest, it had followed up on his situation through trade and legal channels, including via the Press Department of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic.

Based on this statement, despite the follow-ups, no clear information has yet been provided to his family and the guild regarding the agency that detained him, the location where he is being held, or the charges attributed to Saeedi.

Referring to the role of news photographers in recording and narrating events, the Iranian Press Photographers’ Guild called for the creation of a mechanism that is “clear, transparent, and reliable,” so that photographers can work without concern about “discretionary and security-related” برخوردهای.

The guild also called for clarification of Saeedi’s situation and for the provision of the conditions for Majid Saeedi’s release, and said it will continue to pursue his case through legal and trade channels.
