🔶 Iran warns ship owners about transit through “unreliable routes”

The “Persian Gulf Strait Waterway Management” body warned ships that they would face serious consequences if they used “illegal routes” through the Strait of Hormuz. The agency, created by the Islamic Republic for the “management” of the Strait of Hormuz, said in a message posted on Saturday evening on the X network: «Reports have been received indicating that some charterers force vessels to navigate through unreliable routes. In addition to creating the likelihood of financial and physical damage to the vessel, owner, captain, and crew, the future passage of that vessel through the Strait of Hormuz will also face serious restrictions.»

The warning stated that if “charterers’ violations are verified,” the passage of all vessels associated with them through the Strait of Hormuz will be subject to limitations.

The warning comes as Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said he had rejected Iran’s proposal for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
