🔸Iran’s president on Saturday, 24 Mordad called the recent price hikes “natural” and said that the reasons include the economic blockade and U.S. oil sanctions.
🔸Masoud Pezeshkian, at a meeting with the secretaries-general of parties and political activists, said: “Previously, imported products were brought in by ship; now, there are a lot of transit routes to bring them into the country, and the cost of getting goods to the market goes up.”
🔸He added that “our income has also decreased; earlier, I sold oil, but now we cannot sell it.”
🔸The blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to increasing energy prices worldwide, has put pressure on Iran’s economy and intensified inflation.
🔸Reports indicate that with the implementation of the maritime blockade on Iran’s oil exports via Khark Island, exports have dropped sharply. About 90% of Iran’s oil exports are carried out through this island.
