🔶 Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The expulsion of Iranian diplomats by France is not justifiable
The spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with strong criticism of the recent decision by Paris to expel two Iranian diplomats, called the move “unjustifiable” and “a retaliatory reaction.”
Ismail Bagha’i said Iran’s action in expelling two French diplomats was “completely legal and within the framework of the Vienna Convention.”
In explaining the reason for the previous decision by Tehran, he said: “As soon as we felt that the Embassy of France in Tehran had gone beyond its responsibilities and beyond the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and that its actions constituted interference in Iran’s internal affairs, we took action.” Bagha’i added that the two French diplomats had been told they must leave Iranian soil and would not be given the possibility of returning to the country again.
