ولی‌الله حیاتی told Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency that after the “dispatch of a national delegation to Iraq, the passenger borders of Shalamcheh and Chazabeh were reopened as of today, and travel by passengers and pilgrims is established at both borders.”

Previously, Iraq’s state-run news agency had reported that traffic at three border crossings with Iran would resume.

After a drone attack on the East-West oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia, Iraq identified the origin of the attack on its soil and, yesterday, shut these crossings.

The borders of Shalamcheh and Chazabeh are among the most important official border crossings between Iran and Iraq in Iran’s Khuzestan province.

The distance from the Shalamcheh border to Ahvaz is about 145 kilometers, and the distance from the Chazabeh border to Ahvaz on the shortest route is about 142 kilometers.
