🔸 Iran-China Chamber of Commerce head: A maritime blockade is worse than war

Majidreza Hedayati, head of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce, referring to the consequences of the United States’ blockade of Iranian ports, said that Iran must, by any means necessary—whether it is “talks” or “threats, even the use of force, and starting a renewed war”—break this maritime blockade.

On Monday, 19 Mordad, in an interview with Khabaronline, Hedayati made clear that by replacing the maritime route with a land route for transporting goods, one cannot achieve the same level of efficiency: “More than 80 percent of today’s world trade is carried out through the seas. Bringing all the country’s commercial needs onto land means limiting trade to a 20 percent capacity.”

According to him, living under a maritime blockade means falling “to a low level,” and the idea that one could, like with sanctions, get around the maritime blockade and at the same time run the country is futile: “Instead of removing the sanctions or finding a mechanism to neutralize them, we went after bypassing sanctions. The result has been an economic weakening and major corruption.”
