Informed sources told Iran International that following the release of the audio file of Mahboobeh Shabani, a political prisoner from Vakilabad Prison, the prisoner was beaten by the prison guards after being transferred to the section under supervision and being cut off from the outside.

According to these sources, after the beating, they transferred Shabani to the prison infirmary and had her hands and feet tied to the bed; a practice that is referred to in Vakilabad Prison as “fixing” and, according to reports, can lead to tying a prisoner’s hands and feet to a bed for long hours, even up to 24 hours.

The purpose of this action is to prevent her injuries and bruising on Mahboobeh’s body from being seen and recorded; because after returning her to the ward, these marks may gradually disappear and it would become more difficult to observe and document them.
