Information received by Iran International shows that Abbas Rasoulifar, a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps with a history of presence in Syria, was in charge of leading suppression forces in the city of Shahr-e-Quy in the course of the national uprising in Dey 1404.

Eivar Farhadi, a political analyst and a member of the Haft Aban Front, told Iran International that the Islamic Republic’s approach to protests in Iran has gone beyond the classic model of repression. According to him, identifying and categorizing areas, deploying forces, cutting communications, and blocking escape routes are signs of the use of an urban military operations pattern—an approach that had previously been used in the war in Syria.
