In recent days, ambiguities have been raised about the cause of death of Habibollah Salarzehi, the former head of the Science and Technology Park in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

News agencies in Iran, including Fars and ISNA, reported that Mr. Salarzehi, on the morning of 28 Shahrivar, “suddenly suffered a heart attack” while visiting infrastructure projects of science and technology. These news agencies say that the efforts of rescue teams were unsuccessful and that he died due to a “heart attack.”

Local sources, citing the family and close associates of Habibollah Salarzehi, say that the news agencies have “announced the cause of death as a heart attack before forensic medicine had stated it.” They, while rejecting the reports of the official news agencies, have called for a thorough investigation into the cause of death.

Local media including Rasad Baluchestan, Rasnak, and Halvush, citing local sources, reported that the body of Mr. Salarzehi, who had gone to visit a complex under construction in the park opposite Imam Ali Hospital in Zahedan, was found by the caretaker of the complex in the form of a “hanging.”
