🔹In a shocking event at the University of Michigan, an Iranian-American student confronted Abdol al-Sayyid, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate from the state of Michigan, and asked him to condemn the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Al-Sayyid refused to do so. This student, who was wearing a shirt with the words “Michigan Persians,” said with an emotional voice that his family had been hunted and killed by Islamists in Iran.

Addressing al-Sayyid, he added: “You said you don’t want to comment on the death of Ayatollah Khamenei. This silence has created a big hole in our society. Do you reject those who held ceremonies in support of this terrorist? Do you stand against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has killed 50,000 protesters? We are dying.”

In response, instead of directly condemning, al-Sayyid pointed to his concerns about American interference in the leadership of foreign governments and delivered complicated remarks about the interests of companies and general support for democratic movements. He emphasized that he “wants to be cautious.”

Eric Daugherty, a reporter and analyst, described this response as “word salad” and wrote: “Abdal is an Islamist.

He is more concerned about not offending radical Islamic voters in order to win the election than standing with Iranian noncombatants.

He hates Trump so much that he is willing to stand alongside the IRGC.”
