🔶 HRANA: Denial of phone calls for nine female political prisoners
According to HRANA, the news organization of the Iran Human Rights Activists, nine imprisoned female political prisoners held in Evin Prison—Tara Davoudi, Gazal Marzebān, Golrokh Erāyi, Minu Roze-dār, Nasiim Gholami Simiyari, Kimia Davoudi, Sakineh Parvāneh, Fatemeh Panaah Razayi, and Bita Ali Hemati—have been deprived of phone calls since Saturday, the 11th of Mehr, for a period of one month.
A source with knowledge told HRANA that prison officials, without providing reasons or a specific explanation, have announced these prisoners’ deprivation of phone calls in continuation of the ban on their visits. According to the source, this restriction has not been officially communicated and has only been provided, via a handwritten note, to the “case lawyer” so that the prisoners can be informed.
Based on information received by HRANA, “The denials were mainly applied in response to the women prisoners’ protests against the conditions of the ward and the manner in which prison officials and officers behave. Holding ceremonies on political occasions, protesting the ill-treatment by officers when taking prisoners to visitation or to medical and judicial centers, and protesting the installation of cameras in the bathrooms are among the issues that were cited as leading to the imposition of these restrictions.”
