Houthis in Yemen attacked a cargo ship in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and three crew members were killed. Two sources in Yemen’s coast guard and two officials of the official government of that country told Reuters about this news.

Based on a report by Al Arabiya Al Hadath, the two dead were Pakistani and one was Indonesian.

Maritime security sources told Reuters that the cargo ship was believed to have been targeted in the Red Sea, but the fate of the crew was not clear.

The Houthis announced a maritime siege on July 29 that was linked to Saudi Arabia, and since then they have claimed responsibility for attacks on several Saudi oil tankers.

Muammar al-Eryani, the information minister of Yemen’s official government, recently warned that the Houthis, with the guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, are trying to create a systematic mechanism to collect fees from commercial ships in this strait.
