Hossein Amirabdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, held a phone conversation with Veleslava Petrova, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, criticizing Bulgaria’s government for agreeing to the United States’ request to deploy American military aircraft at the “Bezmer” airbase. He described the decision as “condemnable, unacceptable, and contrary to the traditional and friendly relations between the two countries,” and called for Sofia to review it immediately.

He also, citing Article 3 of UN General Assembly Resolution 3314, said that providing a country’s territory for another government to use with the aim of attacking a third country falls under “aggression.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic emphasized that Tehran will not hesitate to defend its national interests and security against any encroachment, and that whoever participates in a military attack on Iran in any way will be responsible for the consequences.
