Hosein Rahimi, head of the Economic Security Police, said on Sunday, the first of Shahrivar, at a press conference that in the first four months of this year, 997 Starlink devices and related equipment were discovered and 163 people were detained in connection with these devices.
Rahimi said that efforts to counter the entry and distribution of Starlink equipment have intensified since the 12-day war.
He added that most of the discovered equipment entered the country through the western and northwestern borders and via the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iraqi Kurdistan. The southern maritime borders and the route through Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman were also other points of entry for these devices.
Rahimi said that the use of border-residency exemptions, embedding equipment in passengers’ luggage, kolbari (carrying goods on foot), and crossing gaps in the borders were among the methods of the unofficial transfer of Starlink equipment into the country.
