🔸Hiwa Sefi-zadeh, an Iranian vocalist who was detained during a solo performance at “Emarat-e Robro” in Esfand 1403, announced on Wednesday, 28 Mordad, in a video that a court has sentenced her to four years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “encouraging corruption and prostitution.”
🔸In this video, she objects to the court’s verdict and says that reading Sa’di’s poetry and performing Iranian music how could be considered a case of “encouraging corruption and prostitution.”
🔸Hiwa Sefi-zadeh also emphasizes that her intent is clear and hopes that the conduct attributed to her in the appeals court will be independently and precisely reviewed based on law and the case file’s documents.
🔸This is the first time that this singer has reacted to this incident following her detention at Emarat-e Robro.
🔸Ms. Sefi-zadeh was detained on Saturday, 11 Esfand, during a concert performance at the cultural complex “Emarat-e Robro” in central Tehran, which was accompanied by an assault by forces known as “plainclothes.”
🔸Two days later, ISNA news agency reported that Hiwa Sefi-zadeh was released on bail.
