🔶 Hanna Neumann says Iran has brought the repression of media to Europe

Hanna Neumann, a member of the German Green Party in the European Parliament, has warned that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic are putting journalists of “BBC Persian,” “Iran International,” and “Radio Farda” at risk of repression and violence by labeling them as “soldiers of Israel and the United States,” and that such an action is an example of “cross-border repression” and could turn these journalists into “military targets.”

Neumann shared, on the social network X, an image of Abolfazl Shekarchi, the senior spokesperson of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, in which Persian-language media outlets abroad are described as reading out “military targets” from his remarks.

Neumann also said that within Iran, the Islamic Republic can cut off the internet, censor media, and imprison journalists, but that as long as reporters abroad are reporting freely, Tehran will not be able to fully control narratives and prevent the dissemination of information.
