🔸Hanna Neumann, a member of the European Parliament and head of the Iran Relations with People Committee in this parliament, announced that she has rejected the request by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in France to meet with Mohammad Amin Nejad, the Iranian ambassador.

🔸On Tuesday, the 7th of Mehr, Neumann wrote in a post of her reply: “The door is open to the people of Iran; not to those who are representatives and executors of their repression.”

🔸In her letter, she accused the Islamic Republic of suppressing opponents inside the country and pursuing critics, journalists, and human rights defenders abroad, and said that diplomatic relations should not be turned into a “shield” for the Islamic Republic’s transnational activities.

🔸Neumann also referred to the recent decision by the President of the European Parliament to close the doors of this institution to diplomats and representatives of the Islamic Republic, and, while expressing support for it, said she is not willing to bypass this restriction by moving the venue of the meeting to the embassy or another location.

🔸At the end, she emphasized that she will not meet with the ambassador of the Islamic Republic “inside or outside the European Parliament,” and added that her door will remain open to the people of Iran and to those who are working for “freedom, democracy, and a free Iran.”
