🔻FIFA president Gianni Infantino has apologized for his “mistakes” during the controversial proposal to sell part of the competition’s shares to private investors, but after receiving support from senior FIFA executives, he was kept in his post.

On Wednesday—14 Mordad—Mr. Infantino had summoned FIFA board members to FIFA’s Africa office in Rabat, Morocco’s capital.

The meeting was held after criticism of his stalled proposal intensified, and FIFA, about four hours after the session ended, announced through a statement that senior managers continue to support the current head of the organization.

Last weekend, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) said it had lost confidence in Infantino and described his proposal to create a private company as “a backroom deal, non-transparent, and inappropriate.”
