Ghasan Ashour, a Middle East affairs analyst, said that with the developments of the past year, the role of Iraqi paramilitary groups has been reduced to a secondary position and that these groups do not have a decisive role even in the current war.
He said some of these groups have spoken about even their readiness to hand over weapons to the Iraqi government in order to distance themselves from the Islamic Republic, but other groups still take orders from Tehran and their priority is to carry out instructions from the Islamic Republic.
