German media and officials said that Charlotte Knobloch, a prominent figure in Munich’s Jewish community, has been threatened with death after her request to ban the far-right party “Alternative for Germany.”
A German prosecutor told the country’s news agency that investigations have been launched into suspected incitement to hatred, threats, and criminal property damage.
German media reported that the phrase “Alternative for Germany has won, now we hang Knobloch,” was carved on a park bench in the city.
Knobloch, 93 and a Holocaust survivor, called for the ban of this party after the far-right party’s victory in elections in an eastern region of Germany.
