🔶 German interior minister: a drone carrying explosives at Leipzig airport is a “hybrid attack” scenario

German Interior Minister said on Wednesday evening, August 5 (14 Mordad) in a meeting with reporters, referring to the Leipzig/Halle airport incident in eastern Germany, that the event is a “hybrid attack” scenario.

During a visit to the site of the incident, Alexander Dobrindt said that the security incident is very serious and indicates new dimensions of threats. He described the presence of an armed drone carrying explosives within the premises of an airport as a threat scenario that has no precedent.

While thanking for cooperation between the state police, federal police, and other relevant institutions, he warned against any speculation about the motives and behind-the-scenes factors behind the incident, and stressed that answers to these kinds of questions should be left to future investigations.
