German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is ready to drag his country into a war with Russia in a bid to improve his approval ratings, foreign policy expert Sevim Dagdelen of the German BSW party (formerly the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance for Reason and Justice) said.

“Merz has been and continues to be Ukrainian chancellor. It is becoming increasingly clear that he is practically ready to plunge us into a war with Russia in order to improve his disastrous approval ratings,” she wrote on social media platform X, commenting on Merz’s visit to Kiev.

She called for the resignation of Germany’s “war-intoxicated” government.
