🔸The president of France announced the dispatch of the country’s forces and military equipment to protect one of Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities against attacks.
🔸Emmanuel Macron said in a televised interview on Thursday, the 2nd of Mehr, that following attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militias, France will send “military equipment and forces” to help protect the strategic port of “Yanbu” in Saudi Arabia.
🔸He said: “We will send military capabilities, including forces, radar, and defense systems, to protect these facilities.”
🔸At the same time, the French president said the move does not mean intervention in the fighting, but is “simply to protect this site.”
🔸Yanbu hosts major Saudi oil storage and refining facilities, as well as the country’s strategic “East-West” pipeline.
🔸The pipeline, which is more than 1,200 kilometers long and has a capacity of up to seven million barrels per day, was shut down as a precaution on the 20th of Shahrivar following drone attacks carried out from Iraqi soil.
