🔸 France said that, in reaction to the Iranian government’s action of sealing a French language education center affiliated with its embassy in Tehran, it will summon the Iranian ambassador and take “appropriate measures.”

🔸 Pascal Cunayvor, the spokesperson of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement on Sunday, 29 Shahrivar: “This new attack against France’s cultural presence in Iran, following the assault on two employees of the French embassy last July, is unjustifiable and unacceptable.”

🔸 The semi-official news agency Tasnim reported on Sunday, 29 Shahrivar, that Iranian officials shut down the French language education center based on a judicial order from the Tehran prosecutor’s office.

🔸 Iranian officials claim that, despite repeated warnings to obtain a permit, the center had been operating for years without a permit and under the cover of teaching foreign languages.

🔸 Relations between the two countries have been tense in recent years over Iran’s nuclear program and the detention of several French citizens by the Islamic Republic.
