Fox News reported that an agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic will technically expire on Monday, 26 Mordad, 60 days after it was signed, and that so far little progress has been made toward reaching a new diplomatic solution regarding reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

According to this report, as the agreement’s term is nearing its end, tensions in the region continue. A cargo ship on Saturday in the Strait of Hormuz was targeted with an unidentified projectile, and two Emirati oil tankers were also attacked the day before.

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, said on Friday about the Strait of Hormuz that the U.S. effectively has control over the passage of ships, adding: “No ship goes through unless we want it to.” He also said that he will soon announce that the Strait of Hormuz is “U.S. territory.”
