🔻For the nineteenth consecutive month, Iran’s official inflation rate increased. According to the latest report by the Statistical Center of Iran, the annual inflation rate in Shahrivar rose by 3.7 percentage points compared with the previous month to reach 73.6 percent; a figure that is unprecedented since 1322.
Based on this report, the prices of the goods and services consumed by people were, on average, 89.8% higher in Shahrivar this year than in Shahrivar last year; a figure referred to as point-to-point inflation.
The Statistical Center’s assessments show that communication costs, automobile prices, and shoes and clothing were among the items that saw the biggest price increases in Shahrivar. The report indicates that point-to-point inflation in rural areas was 22 percentage points higher than in urban areas, and for the lowest-income segment of society—income quintile 1—was about 10% higher than in income quintile 10—the highest-income quintile.
