🔸Fatemeh Mohitizadeh, an Iranian athlete, was removed from the “heptathlon” competitions at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya due to what was announced as the “illegal nature of her shoes.”

🔸According to the public relations report of the Iran Athletics Federation, the organizing committee annulled the result of Mohitizadeh in the long jump event because her shoes were deemed illegal and removed the athlete from the competition bracket.

🔸The decision was made at a time when Ms. Mohitizadeh was on the verge of winning a gold medal.

🔸In response to this decision, the Iran Athletics Federation, in its official protest, stated that Mohitizadeh’s shoes were submitted during the equipment inspection process before the start of the competitions and were approved by the competition officials.

🔸The Iran team also said that the annulment of the result was carried out after the end of the competition, following an objection by another team, and emphasized that any fault in determining whether the athlete’s shoes were permitted lies with the competition inspection process, not with the athlete.

🔸The federation has asked the appeals panel to review the inspection records before the competition and determine whether the shoe model used by Mohitizadeh was approved before the event or not.
