🔸The EU foreign policy chief said he reported on his meeting with Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, in New York, and said that in this meeting he discussed freedom of navigation for ships in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, as well as an increase in executions in Iran.

🔸Kaya Kallas wrote on her account on the social network X, along with a photo of this meeting: “On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, I met with Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister. We discussed diplomatic prospects for ending the war between the United States and Iran and for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.”

🔸She added: “Before the war, there were no charges or costs for transit (through the Strait of Hormuz), and after the war there should not be such costs either. Shipping, both in the Strait of Hormuz and in the Bab el-Mandeb, must be free and without obstacles.”

🔸The EU foreign policy chief added: “I also raised the issue of domestic repression in Iran, including the sharp increase in executions and the issuance of death sentences.”
