🔶Estimated results of elections in the two states of Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

According to the latest updates of election results, the Left Party won the state parliament election in Berlin (the Berlin Senate) by a clear margin, with 25.3% of the vote going to the party. The Christian Democratic Party has clearly lost votes and will likely have to leave the state government’s headquarters. On the other hand, the right-wing Alternative for Germany has made progress in its results, but the Greens and the Social Democrats have, in some cases, noticeably lost votes.

For the first time, the Left Party may enter the government of this state in Berlin and determine the mayor of the ruling city: based on the estimated results of the Berlin state parliament election, 25.3% of voters voted for the Left Party; a party that traditionally holds significant power in the capital.

This figure is a new record for the party. The best prior result of the Left Party was achieved in 2001: at that time, the party—which was still operating under another name—reached its highest result to date by winning 22.6%.
