Esmail Baghayi, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced at a press conference on Monday, 12 Mordad that there is no negotiation with the United States, but rather talks with Oman regarding the topic of “safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz” are underway.

The spokesperson of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The talks with Oman are focused on reaching an understanding about a route that will ensure the safe passage of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.”

He added that these bilateral talks are “between the two coastal states,” and that the Islamic Republic’s effort is, with Oman’s consultation and cooperation, to determine a route “which will naturally be temporary” in the first opportunity, and based on it to “provide the safety of shipping” in the Strait of Hormuz.
