Energy data analytics group ‘Vortexa’ reported that the U.S. blockade kept Iran’s seaborne crude oil exports at zero in October.
According to this report, Iran’s exports—which in early September averaged 230,000 barrels per day—fell to zero in the second week of that month and did not change up to October 5.
Vortexa said 43 million barrels of Iran’s crude oil became stuck in the western Strait of Hormuz due to the U.S. blockade. Kleur Jongman, risk and maritime intelligence manager at Vortexa, said the blockade has “done what years of sanctions could not do” and stopped the physical exit of Iran’s oil from the Persian Gulf.
Jongman also said China no longer has an urgent need for Iranian oil as it did in the past, because Russian crude oil has filled the gap.
The report further added that Iran’s liquefied petroleum gas exports declined by 48% compared with the previous month, reaching the lowest level since at least January 2023.
