Egypt’s president, on Sunday, asked the Islamic Republic to make every possible effort to stop the escalation of tensions in the region and to achieve a peaceful, comprehensive and lasting solution to the crisis.

Based on a statement by the Egyptian presidency, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said this during a meeting with Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi.

Al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm support for efforts aimed at restoring stability in the region and said that any solution must respect the sovereignty of the countries in the region and protect their people and resources.

The Egyptian president emphasized the necessity of halting any attacks on Arab countries and cited the principles of good neighborliness and the historical and cultural ties among the peoples of the region.

The meeting took place on the final day of the two-day BRICS summit.
