ECB chief Lagarde quits early, says she cannot speak freely as ‘truth is being distorted’

European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde has announced she will step down nine months before the end of her term, saying she can no longer remain neutral while “the truth” is being damaged and distorted.
