Donald Trump, the US president, once again asked oil companies to reduce the price of gasoline for American consumers.

He on Monday criticized Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for not appreciating the efforts of his administration to help the oil industry in a televised interview.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The only thing [the Chevron CEO] conveniently forgot to mention is that without the ingenuity, foresight, power, and stability of the Trump administration, the oil industry and our own country would have been destroyed.”

Trump added: “For example, they kicked out Mike and Chevron from Venezuela, but now these companies have returned; much bigger and more powerful than before, and they expect to make a fortune.”

Trump continued: “This is true for the other oil companies too... and bring down oil prices for the consumer (retail) right now.” 📸EPA/Shutterstock
