🔻Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said on Friday that he will not issue a permit for a ban on diesel exports.

The remarks were made hours after the G7 member countries agreed to release their emergency reserves of diesel and crude oil.

On Friday, the G7 countries agreed to release 100 million barrels of crude oil and diesel from emergency reserves to help curb a sharp spike in fuel prices following the war in Iran.

Earlier, Reuters reported on Thursday that the Donald Trump administration had asked Germany and France to implement an emergency plan for injecting diesel into the market.

The report said that the U.S. government warned these two countries that otherwise they would face a ban on U.S. diesel exports.

Mr. Trump said he would consider the possibility of banning U.S. diesel exports in order to bring down fuel prices in the United States before the November 3 midterm elections.
