🔻Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said in an interview with Time magazine that the lengthening of the war with Iran was the result of his own decision to continue operations. He said that after the U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, he could have stopped the war, but he chose to “go further.”

In response to the question of why a war that he had initially said would last six to eight weeks is now in its seventh month, he said: “Only because I wanted to go further.”

He said that after the B-2 bombers’ attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, he could have halted operations, but, according to him, Iranian officials were “impatient” to resume their activities—if not at the same location, then elsewhere.

The U.S. president said: “I could have stopped right there, but I felt it wasn’t the right thing to do,” adding that he did not want Iran to “come back again in another way.”
