Donald Trump, the president of the United States, said during a meeting with Andy Burnham, the prime minister of the UK, at the United Nations in New York that Tehran and Washington had also been in talks on Tuesday, adding: “I think an agreement will be reached.”

Trump said: “We prevented them from getting nuclear weapons. We really stopped them. They will not have nuclear weapons, and we’ll see what happens.”

Burnham also said that in his first meeting with Trump, he had established “a good connection” with him, and that the two sides had discussed the Middle East, the Falkland Islands, and trade issues.

He told Trump that Britain is ready to play its role in the Middle East.
