A news website, Vijesti, reported that the Supreme Court of Podgorica has approved the extradition of Amir Brati, an Iranian-Turkish citizen, to the United States. Bojan Božović, Montenegro’s Minister of Justice, said the U.S. Department of Justice has been informed of this decision.

Montenegro officials have introduced Brati as a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The United States accuses him of participating since 2013 in cyberattacks against more than 150 American universities and causing more than $3.4 billion in damage.

Earlier, Iran International had reported in an exclusive report that Amir Brati had been cooperating with the Ministry of Intelligence under the hacking name “Kinglet” for years. According to that report, he had been living in Turkey under a new identity since 2021 and, after receiving Turkish citizenship, had legally changed his name.

He was arrested in Montenegro on Tir 4 (July 1) at the request of the United States and is facing charges including large-scale cyberattacks, computer fraud, hacking, unauthorized access to computer systems, and identity theft in a court proceeding in New York.
