Donald Trump, the President of the United States, posted an image on Truth Social on Tuesday titled “New Territory of the United States,” which shows a map of the Persian Gulf, Iran and the Sea of Oman, with the Strait of Hormuz marked with a circle.

He did not publish any text along with the image.

Mr. Trump had said yesterday that designating the Strait of Hormuz as American territory is a “great” idea.

He also said on Friday, during a speech in New York: “Once we finish defeating Iran, which is being defeated very strongly, I will declare the Strait of Hormuz as the territory of the United States very soon.”
