Donald Trump confirmed reports about the existence of an unofficial, direct communication channel with senior officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. While the IRGC has denied any talks with the United States, the spokesperson of the Kurdistan Regional Government told Iran International in an interview about the exchange of messages between the two sides.
Trump also said that Tehran should "raise the white flag of surrender".
At the same time, a senior official of the Islamic Republic told Reuters that if diplomacy with the United States fails, Tehran will intensify tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the region.
