👈 Donald Trump announced that the “de minimis” system has been abolished: today, we achieved a great victory in the U.S. International Trade Court, a victory over one of the most dishonest exemptions in U.S. trade policy—the famous “de minimis.”

For years, foreign shipping companies could import packages valued up to $800 into our country without paying tariffs and taxes, which meant less oversight. This turned into a major escape route to avoid paying taxes, and it was also a channel that drug smugglers, makers of counterfeit goods, and other criminals used to bring dangerous and illegal products into the United States. The statistics were extremely shocking.

Only in 2024, the “de minimis” system stripped the United States of about $10.8 billion in import tax revenue, and a significant portion of the seized drugs and counterfeit goods had been brought in through this channel. So, we shut it down. With a decisive signature—without using a signing machine—we abolished this ridiculous exemption and made sure that foreign goods comply with the law. Importers sued. Today, they lost. The court ruled that the president has the legal authority to revoke this “privilege.”

Now, America is safer, our workers are better protected, and the billions of dollars in import tax revenue that previously escaped through this route can be used to fund our great army, reduce taxes, no tax on tips, and no tax on Social Security. “America First” trade policy and enforcement of “America First” law.
